Our standards ensure that every verified teacher represents safe, ethical and authentic Yogic education — no matter where they live or where they studied.
Yoga is more than a physical practice. When someone becomes a Yoga teacher, they step into a role of trust, responsibility and influence. Clear standards protect students from unsafe teaching, diluted knowledge and unethical behavior — while also honouring teachers who are genuinely committed to the path.
IYB standards bring structure where the industry is often unregulated. Instead of “anyone can claim to be a teacher”, we create a transparent system where qualifications can be seen, verified and trusted.
IYB does not control your curriculum. Your Yoga training can come from any authentic school or lineage. Our role is to evaluate you as a professional — how you teach, how you behave, how you represent Yoga in the world.
Clarity of instruction, cueing, class structure and ability to hold a safe space.
Real understanding of asana mechanics, breathwork, basic anatomy and Yogic principles.
Professional boundaries, respect, non-harm and transparent communication.
Ongoing self-practice, learning and openness to feedback and refinement.
A progressive path from “Certified” to “Verified” to “Recognized Professional”.
Minimum 200 hours of structured Yoga education and basic teaching exposure. This is the starting point for recognition.
Identity, ethics and qualifications verified by IYB. Your name and profile are published in our Global Verified Teacher Directory.
Higher experience, specialisation, student impact and long-term contribution to the Yoga community are recognised at this level.
