IYB Code of Ethics

A teacher holds a powerful responsibility. Students trust them with their physical health, emotional balance, and spiritual journey. At IYB, maintaining this trust is the foundation of our global yoga community and the core of our verification process.

1. Respect for Yoga Lineage and Knowledge

Yoga Lineage

Yoga’s ancient heritage must be honored. Teachers must acknowledge their teachers, traditions, and sources of learning. Every teaching must stay rooted in authenticity while serving modern practitioners with respect and clarity.

2. Student Safety and Well-Being First

Student Safety

A Yoga class must always be a safe space for every person. Adjustments should be optional and based on consent. Teachers must offer variations, avoid forceful corrections, and guide students with awareness of health conditions or physical limitations.

3. Professional Communication & Boundaries

Professional Boundaries

Teachers must maintain a respectful and professional relationship with students at all times. Personal influence should never be used for emotional, spiritual, financial, or physical exploitation. A Yoga space must always remain free from misconduct and harassment.

4. Truth in Qualifications and Teaching

True Credentials

Teachers must represent their experience and education honestly. They should teach only what they are trained and qualified to teach and remain dedicated to continuous learning as a role model for students.

5. Confidentiality and Respect

Confidentiality

Students may share personal, physical, or emotional concerns with their teacher. This information must be kept private and never used for judgment or personal gain. Teachers must cultivate a compassionate, respectful, and non-discriminatory environment.

A Commitment to Honor and Service

Every IYB Verified Teacher signs this Code of Conduct as a promise to uphold the true essence of Yoga — service without ego, guidance without harm, and leadership with integrity.
